Coldstream Meadows is located on the former site of the Vernon Preparatory School. The school was run by Rev. A. Mackie and his brother Hugh from 1914 to 1946. The school included a gymnasium, chapel, tennis courts and a pool. The school was rebuilt on 1958 and remained a school until the early 1970’s. The chapel was also reconstructed and is a beautiful setting for weddings today.
After 1970, the government converted the school into a facility for the elderly and the mentally challenged. It remained so for the next 15 years, until the building was purchased privately and became known as the Coldstream Park Lodge.
In April 1997, the Borden family purchased the property. With a promise of a bright new future for independent seniors, they renamed it Coldstream Meadows. Since then, improvements have been made to further expand and improve every aspect of Coldstream Meadows.
Coldstream Meadows is unique when compared to other retirement communities because we are family owned and operated. The owners of Coldstream Meadows care about the residents and are always around for the residents to reach out to.
