What type of care do you offer?

Coldstream Meadows offers a variety of independent, supportive and assisted living options.

I always hear about “Independent Living” and “Assisted Living” but I am not quite sure of the difference?

In Independent Living, your minimal health needs allow you to live independently with the piece of mind a seniors community provides- we have someone around 24 hours a day to help with concerns, and you can add on services as you need them- including meals or housekeeping!

In Assisted Living, you require a bit more support. All meals and housekeeping are taken care of for you, and additional health care services- such as medications or bathing are provided. A 24 hour emergency call system is in place, and care staff are on site at all times.

If I move into Independent Living can I move to Assisted Living when I need more assistance?

That is always an option- and in some cases you may not have to even move suites!

What are the costs?

Independent living suites vary depending on the building you choose- from the cozy comfort of a studio suite at the Lodge, to the spacious luxury of a two bedroom suite at the Views.

Assisted living suites have a three part system: base rent, an assisted living fee, and a variable section in which you will be charged only for the services you use.

Do you have any funded beds?

Not currently. We are working towards receiving funding, but at the moment we only offer private pay options.

Are there any subsidies for someone who has a lower income?

Depending on whether you meet the criteria to qualify, the SAFER grant is available to all residents in private pay independent or assisted living. Visit the SAFER website to confirm your eligibility and submit an application form.

How do I know that Coldstream Meadows is a quality place to live?

Coldstream Meadows has proudly received the BCSLA Seal of Approval. To obtain the Seal of Approval, a retirement community must complete both an internal self-assessment and an independent external review. Five key areas are assessed: Safety Measures, Infection Control, Staff Training, Resident Services, and Assisted Living (if applicable). The assessment process includes: resident interviews, staff interview, document verification and on-site walk-through.
